Monday, 14 July 2008
The preflop holdem is mostly played based on the starting hands that one is dealt.  The two pair cards that one is likely to get in holdem will have a total of 1,326 combinations from the 13 ranks and 4 different suits.  The knowledge of such mathematical facets is very crucial when playing preflop holdem and all such math seems killing to many people.

Advantageously, even those that are math craps can do genius poker math for preflop holdem by using the odds calculator.  It is good to depend on such odds statistics given by online poker software, but one will have to understand in the long run it is necessary to memorize to do that math mentally.  Being able to do such math mentally speeds up the game and also sharpens the poker ability of the player. These players that can do the mental math have a better edge than those that do it with software.

After you are dealt with the pockets, you need to arrive on the probability of what kind of hand you can make for the winning from them by making simple preflop holdem calculations. If you have been dealt two unpaired cards, you immediately lose chance for a royal flush and similarly there are going to be estimates to tell you the chances that are favorable for you to make hand and the chances for you to not being able to make a hand.

If you have 16 different combinations of hands that you can get for a pocket that are not paired; consider AQ for that reason. The probable hands that you will be dealt with AQ are as follows:
•    A spade with Q spade or Q clubs or Q heart or Q diamond.
•    A clubs with Q spade or Q clubs or Q heart or Q diamond.
•    A heart with Q spade or Q club or Q heart or Q diamond
•    A diamond with Q diamond or Q spade or Q clubs or Q heart

In the above probabilities calculation from a typical preflop holdem pocket of 2 different ranks you must understand that there are:-
•    Probably 6 chances to make a pair hand based on how card turn in the following round.
•    16 chances to make an unpaired hand
Based on what hand you get dealt you need to decide on whether you are going to make a pair hand with the preflop hand or if you are going to make an unpaired hand with the preflop holdem pocket you have got; however, even if preflop holdem fails, there can be chances to make pair hands based on subsequent cards.
